To keep as many missions open to our Scouts as possible, Dscout has partnered with a trusted third-party partner called Veriff to process a one-time identity verification. This ID verification is required upon qualification for your first usability test or media survey (also known as Express missions). Start to finish, the process only takes a couple of minutes. And once it’s complete, you won’t have to worry about it again.
Still, we know that keeping your information secure is incredibly important and that you may have some questions. So, we’ve put together the sections below to offer some answers.
Why do I need to do this?
Fair question! You’ve created your account. You’ve entered your details. Isn’t that enough? Well, in a lot of cases, yes. But the work you do on Dscout is special—you put a lot of time into your missions, you give a lot of thought to your responses. And verifying your identity helps us ensure you get the credit for that.
By verifying your identity, we can easily spot Scouts who aren’t as well-intentioned as you, or who might try to create multiple accounts. Not only can this damage the value and trust our researchers place in our Scouts, but it can also affect the number of openings available to you—both immediately and long-term.
How many times do I have to do this?
Verification is a one-time thing! Once your account is successfully verified, you won’t have to do it again. Simple as that.
What is Veriff?
Veriff is our trusted third-party partner who processes all of our Scout identity verification. However, we’re not the only ones who recruit Veriff for this same task: Companies like Amazon, Visa, Instacart, and more all use their services—chances are good you may have even verified your identity using Veriff before!
What data does Veriff need?
Once you begin the verification process, Veriff will tell you exactly what they need (most often some form of government-issued ID like a driver’s license or passport). They also typically ask that you submit a quick selfie or video. With these, Veriff is able to:
- Confirm that the name on your ID matches the name on your Dscout account.
- Confirm that the photo on your ID matches the person in your selfie or video.
And don’t worry—once the process is complete, they won’t do anything else with your data. They simply tell us that you’re you, and that’s that. Your account is verified, and you won’t have to do this again.
In case you’re curious, here’s all of the information above, straight from our Legal team:
Certain missions will require ID verification in order for the mission to be processed and paid. Dscout engages a third-party service provider, Veriff, for ID verification. As part of the ID verification process, you will take a picture of your government-issued ID (such as a driver’s license) and you will provide a live selfie or short video stream during the verification session. Veriff extracts your photo from your government issued ID and compares it to the facial biometric data from the live feed. Your facial biometric data is used to confirm that you are the legitimate holder of your government-issued ID and to analyze the selfie or short video stream to confirm it is a live feed and not a spoofing attempt.
If your verification is unsuccessful and you believe this was an error, please contact support@dscout.com.
